2020 Event Cancellation

2020 EVENT UPDATE

Out of an abundance of safety concerns and a great deal of deliberation, we feel it is necessary to cancel the 2020 Naperville Triathlon scheduled for August 2, 2020. This is an unprecedented global public health issue and we must do our part to act responsibly and protect our participants, volunteers, spectators, sponsors, staff and host community. There have been several points of concern, that have impacted the decision over the last few weeks. We were hopeful to still hold the event but after the unparalleled closure of Centennial Beach, continued restrictions in Phase 4 and the general feedback we received about event modifications, we feel it is necessary to cancel.

We will defer every registered participant to the 2021 event at no cost. We will be sending a priority link in the next few weeks to register for the 2021 event. Due to the event wavier and USAT rule, we can’t automatically transfer your registration forward. Please be sure to re-register for the 2021 event, once we send out the registration instructions.  The 2021 event will take place on Sunday, August 1st, 2021.

Due to the fact that most of our pools are closed for the season, we will not be hosting a virtual event. We would still like to distribute your athlete items at Naperville Running Company starting August 3rd. We will send more details regarding packet pickup instructions in the next few weeks.

We also know many of you have trained and made sacrifices for months in anticipation of a great personal accomplishment. We understand this frustration for many of you. We assure you that this is a frustration for us as well. We plan this event more than a year in advance. All of us have been impacted by this unprecedented global public health issue. We appreciate your patience as we navigate this uncertain time, and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2021!

Thank you for understanding.

Nick Lynch, Event Director
